Privacy Policy

We collect only what we need to plan and deliver your travel:

• Your inquiry: names, contact details, where you are based, travel dates, who is traveling and with whom, an approximate budget, what you would like us to arrange, your preferences, any dietary needs you choose to share, and how you heard of us.
• Our correspondence: the emails and messages we exchange while planning.
• Travel documents: passport details, and only when a reservation requires them.
• Newsletter: your email address, if you ask to receive our newsletter.

We never ask you to send card numbers by email.

When a trip is ready to book, you enter your card and the traveler details the bookings require yourself, in the secure form of Fora Travel, our host agency. They are never entered on this website.

We plan family trips, so we sometimes hold information about children, such as names, ages and, where a reservation requires them, passport details. This information always comes from the adult arranging the trip, never from the child, and we hold and delete it exactly as described in this policy. This website is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from them online.

We use your information for one purpose: planning and delivering your travel, both this trip and any trip you return to us for. That includes researching and writing your itinerary, making reservations on your behalf once you have approved them, and staying in touch before and during your travel. If you have asked to receive our newsletter, we also use your email address to send it.

We do not use your information for advertising, and we never sell it.

Parts of our intake and planning work are assisted by AI systems, including Anthropic's, and nothing reaches you without Doug's personal review.

We share your information only with:

• The service providers that store our files and records, and the AI systems described above.
• Fora Travel, our host agency, when a booking is placed through it, and only what that booking requires.
• The hotels, railways, restaurants and other providers needed for the reservations you have approved. Many of them are outside the United States, in the countries your trip visits.
• Public authorities, where the law requires it.

Nothing about you is sold or passed to advertisers.

Your records are kept with established providers, including Google's Drive and Gmail services and Airtable, each with its own security and privacy protections. We ask for sensitive details only when a booking needs them.

This website does not use cookies or advertising trackers, and it takes no payments; your trip is paid directly to the hotels, railways and other providers, under their own terms. Inquiries sent through the site come directly to us. Like most websites, our hosting provider keeps brief technical logs, such as IP addresses, to keep the site secure and running.

This website links to our pages on Instagram, Facebook, Threads and TikTok, and to other sites. Each of those sites has its own privacy policy, which governs what it collects.

• If you inquire and we do not go on to work together, we delete your inquiry after 24 months.
• If you travel with us, we keep your trip records for three years after your trip ends, so that your file is ready if you return.
• If you receive our newsletter, we keep your email address until you ask to be removed.
• Tax and accounting records are kept for as long as the law requires, which may be longer than the periods above.

You may ask to see the information we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted, and you may stop receiving our newsletter at any time. Write to doug@wonderlustexpress.com and we will take care of it. The one exception is records that tax and accounting rules require us to keep, which we hold until those rules allow them to be deleted.

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date.
